TRACKLISTING (IT'S HERE)!

Postby rtdarkhorse on Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:47 pm

Not sure how accurate this is. Found this on wikipedia which originally came from tower records japan

1."Got My Mind Set on You"
taken from the album Cloud Nine (1987)
2."Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)"
taken from the album Living in the Material World (1973)
3."The Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)"
taken from the album All Things Must Pass (1970)
4."My Sweet Lord"
taken from the album All Things Must Pass (1970)
5."This Song"
taken from the album Thirty Three & 1/3 (1976)
6."While My Guitar Gently Weeps"
live version taken from the album The Concert for Bangladesh
7."Any Road"
taken from the album Brainwashed (2002)
8."This Is Love"
taken from the album Cloud Nine (1987)
9."All Those Years Ago"
taken from the album Somewhere in England (1981)
10."What Is Life"
taken from the album All Things Must Pass (1970)
11."Rising Sun"
taken from the album Brainwashed (2002)
12."When We Was Fab"
taken from the album Cloud Nine (1987)
13."Something"
live version taken from the album The Concert for Bangladesh
14."Blow Away"
taken from the album George Harrison (1989)
15."Cheer Down"
taken from the motion picture soundtrack of Lethal Weapon 2 (1989)
16."Here Comes the Sun"
live version taken from the album The Concert for Bangladesh
17."I Don't Want to Do It" (Bob Dylan)
taken from the motion picture soundtrack of Porky's Revenge (1985)
18."All Things Must Pass"
taken from the album All Things Must Pass (1970)
19."Isn't It A Pity"
taken from the album All Things Must Pass (1970)

Excited to see Cheer Down and I Don't Want to Do It included, but why are there no songs from Dark Horse and Extra Texture?! "Dark Horse", "Bangla Desh" (single version), "You", and "Crackerbox Palace" are all glaring omissions, and nothing from Gone Troppo is represented either. Now I'm praying really hard that the reason there are two versions listed on amazon.com is because the other one is two discs or has a bonus DVD or something else cause now I feel disappointed.

3 beatle tunes pushed them off. Pushed off some bonafide Harrison Solo Hits. Cheer Down wasn't a hit so would bump it for Dark Horse(you can get a great live version of it on Live In Japan) I would then bump the live beatle tunes for "Bangla Desh" (single version), "You", and "Crackerbox Palace"..but oh well. I love the inclusion of the overlooked "I Don't Want to Do It"

As disappointed as I am that "Dark Horse," "Bangla Desh," "You," and "Crackerbox Palace" have been left off, I am actually pleased with the track listing. It's refreshing to see "This Is Love" and "All Things Must Pass" (I was really worried this song wouldn't make it in when I began to realize that "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp" would probably make the cut). Nice to see "Rising Sun," the best song from Brainwashed squeeze in. And yes, it is nice to get "Cheer Down" and "I Don't Want to Do It." There were so many songs eligible for the best of George Harrison, there were bound to be some casualties along the way. I honestly think this showcases the best of George Harrison rather than his greatest hits. Because quite honestly, "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp," "All Things Must Pass," "This Is Love," and "Rising Sun" are all better songs than "You" or "Dark Horse."
I will be buying this collection, unless a 2-disc version is released. Here are some songs I would like to see included on a 2-disc version:

"Bangla Desh"
"Don't Let Me Wait Too Long"
"Dark Horse"
"Ding Dong, Ding Dong"
"You"
"Crackerbox Palace"
"Beautiful Girl"
"Love Comes To Everyone"
"Flying Hour"
"Sat Singing"
"Horse To The Water"
"Stuck Inside A Cloud"

If the best of george harrison goes out of print their will be no where to get the studio version of Bangla Desh; but we get a studio and live version of Cheer Down... I am not sure that seems right. I really wanted a remastered Dark Horse and You..also. I am happy to get a new George Release, but the only thing this offers me a an official version of I Don't want to do it. I am a little disappointed but I will buy the disc and more importantly the packaging and Beatle song inclusion means the masses will by it...particularly after Scorsese works his magic.

Oh No! I certainly hope there is a second version with two discs. I don't want to do it is
somewhat nice, and many of the hits. I see no reason to buy this whatsoever. There is
no track on there I don't own and haven't heard a million times.

What happened to the a couple of songs not on any album ? I don't want to do it and what else ?
Even that is on an album actually the Porky soundtrack.

OH NO ! I love Georges work but I see nothing new there nothing. Is there a secend version
with more tracks ? Is that really it ? Its missing several hits as well. I was really hoping for something
here when I read that couple of tunes not on any album. Is there a second version

Not too bad of a tracklisting. A little surprised by the absence of "Dark Horse" and "You" and some notable others... I just hope there's a double disc one coming out alongside with this version.

Olivia was referring to the Lethal Weapon Cheer Down and single I don't want to do it when
she said a couple songs not on any album. Gee Whiz I hope not what a disappointment.
That's not to say it isin't a nice tracklist. No not feeling the Love. Nice for someone
that has no George albums I guess.

amazon.com lists this tracklisting:

1. Got My Mind Set On You
2. Give Me Love (Give Me Peace On Earth)
3. The Ballad Of Sir Frankie Crisp (Let It Roll)
4. My Sweet Lord
5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps (Live - Concert For Bangladesh Soundtrack)
6. All Things Must Pass
7. Any Road
8. This Is Love
9. All Those Years Ago
10. Marwa Blues
11. What Is Life
12. Rising Sun
13. When We Was Fab
14. Something (Live - Concert For Bangladesh Soundtrack)
15. Blow Away
16. Cheer Down
17. Here Comes The Sun (Live - Concert For Bangladesh Soundtrack)
18. I Don't Want To Do It
19. Isn't It A Pity

notice the substitution of This Song for Marwa Blues. Not the best idea I think. Now the collection is very Brainwashed, not even acknowledging any songs on 33&1/3

I love George Harrison. I have purchased every album he ever made including greatest hits live and regular
studio albums. I know what year he recorded what song, what songs he wrote for other people. In short
I care about his tunes. But this is dreadful. No cool bonus tracks, half the hits missing. Some deep album
tracks of high quality missing. The artwork is nice. Its nice to see the Brainwashed album represented.
But this is dreadful. No Valentine no new songs, and according to Amazon four of the ten solo albums
are not represented at all. There must be a version two with two discs and all the missing stuff.
I won't touch this version. I don't care how good Giles Martins re-mastering is.

Yikes! I really hope "This Song" hasn't been substituted by "Marwa Blues." George Harrison is long overdue for a decent career-spanning compilation. His first one was botched by the overabundance of Beatles songs. His follow-up was decent (although a bit Thirty-Three & 1/3-starved), but now out of print. Why are we depriving this collection of his hit singles? He had just enough hits that you could fit them all on a disc, and still have room for album cuts and rarities. Why no "Bangla Desh"? "Crackerbox Palace"? "Dark Horse"? "You"? "This Song"? "Ding Dong"? (okay, that last one we can live without, but still...the others were all Top 40 hits on the Billboard charts).
Okay, so "Marwa Blues" gave George one of his few Grammys, but is it really going to win over many new fans? I think we can even do without "Rising Sun" and "Ballad of Sir Frankie Crisp," as beautiful as they are.
Hmm...I'm really hoping for a 2-disc special edition release that includes all of the hit singles, and more album cuts, rarities, etcetera. Heck, the man released 10 studio albums...2 discs isn't at all preposterous. Radiohead released 2 discs with only 6 albums under their belt.
Why not make this a great celebration of George's music that showcases all the hits? Release a 1 disc version, and a 2 disc version :D

From your lips to Gods ear Daniel! But it would appear the
game is afoot already and we missed out.

At least six top forty hits were left off plus Handle with care.
Three albums in a row have nothing represented

Dark Horse 74
Extra Texture 75
33 1/3 76

and Gone Troppo 82 ?

not one track from any of those four albums. No Valentine
nada nothing.

This will be my first time not buying a new George Harrison album
Unless there is a two disc version with something else on it.
Does not appear that way.

I guess we just have to "watch this space" as they say. Seems to me that nothing is set in concrete as yet (apart from George's Star! ;) ) I am looking forward to it and will love it regardless, just because :)
