Postby SLOMAN on Tue Aug 12, 2008 4:42 pm

Some time ago it was issued bariwashed, here on this forum were rumors that is many more unfinished songs, and that it will be published on some ANTHOLOGY cd

Does anyone know from a first hand anything about it?

And also when we can expect a remastered DARHORSE album?

I would like to know if it is possible to get some valid information here, or is that just a fan forum only with rumors?

The Material World was released in 2006 and after 2 years I think it would be right time to release DARKHORSE with some bonus tracks.

I think the further Harrison releases are pending because of the upcoming Scorsese film. I'm sure the documentary will boost the sales when it comes out.

That is a documentary which is being worked on. You can find more info about it here somewhere.

About future releases: Yes, when you read the latest posts you would maybe not think so, but this in indeed a Fan Forum where also music is discussed and future releases.

At the moment there is no indication about a new album with either unreleased songs or an Anthology kind of album.

Also, no dates are indicated for re-releases like Dark Horse.

However, if you keep coming here you will learn about it when there is any news.

I too think that the film and the associated soundtrack is a major project and will likely draw time away from the re-releases that have been mentioned.

But, would the release of the film present an opportunity to enhance the discograph,y in anticipation of heightened sales due to new awareness from the film, increasing the fan base, and increasing overall potential demand?

OR is it best to draw out the releases in their own marketing campaign, in essence targeting only the loyal fan base?

Questions questions.

Maybe the way things are plodding along (if at all) isn't such a bad thing because of the way the economy -- especially here in the U.S. -- is tanking.
If we have to wait two more years for any major releases, along with the Scorsese project, then so be it. It means the economy might be at least on the path to recovery.
Anything that comes out next year, by anyone, is going to suffer because people just don't have money and are losing their houses and jobs left and right.
And, does anybody make the connection between McCartney thanking Americans for electing Barack Obama and what Macca probably hopes is an economic recovery that helps people buy albums and concert tickets??? Hmmmmmmm.

You know Tim, I agree with you most of the time...but I think it is going to be a long time before the economic picture gets better, and even Paul knows that people will not have money for tickets and his overhead costs have probably skyrocketed too; he's already said he doesn't have any plans to tour in 2009; I doubt Paul sees the election of Obama in the way you suggest. (No one is going to be able to fix the economy that fast.)

I have heard that the Scorcese project is taking longer than expected. I would think this would be the focus of the Harrison estate at the moment. And as you said, with the economic picture being what it is, people losing jobs, losing houses, people in fear of losing their jobs sales will be down for any project that is upcoming for any artist. So maybe it is better that things seem to be moving slowly.

There had been talk in the past of all the projects mentioned, an Anthology, a remastered Dark Horse, but we also have to remember that Olivia and Dhani need time to live their own lives too.

Well, we just found out this week that there is going to be a greatest hits package from George coming out on June 16 in the US. It will focus on his solo career. Any Beatle songs on it will be taken from the performances from the Concert of Bengla Desh.

I agree. I know George had not had time to re-release his unheard songs and hopefully somewhere down the road these songs will be released. I would love to hear them all even if they are only demo songs.

:D :D :D

I hope this is true

Yeah, but this was new a year ago…
This long-timed silence about new productions (two albums to be remastered, an anthology, a movie…), makes me think there’ll be anything new till next year.
