In this universe the Swan, the Supreme Self alone exists. It is He who,
as fire, abides in the water. Only by knowing Him does one pass over
death, There is no other way to reach the Supreme Goal.

Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad, Part I, Chapter VI, 15

He who is the support of both the unmanifested prakriti and the jiva,
who is the Lord of the three gunas and who is the cause of bondage,
existence and Liberation from samsara, is verily the Creator of the
universe, the Knower, the inmost Self of all things and their Source-the
omniscient Lord, the Author of time, the Possessor of virtues, the Knower
of everything.

Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad, Part I, Chapter VI, 16

He who constantly rules the world is verily the cause of bondage
and Liberation. Established in His own glory, He is the Immortal,
the Embodiment of Consciousness, the omnipresent Protector of the
universe. There is no one else able to rule it.

Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad, Part I, Chapter VI, 17

Seeking Liberation, I take refuge in the Lord, the revealer of
Self-Knowledge, who in the beginning created Brahma and delivered the
Vedas to Him.

Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad, Part I, Chapter VI, 18

When men shall roll up space as if it were a piece of hide, then there
will be an end of misery without one's cultivating the Knowledge of
the Lord, who is without parts, without actions, tranquil, blameless,
unattached, the supreme bridge to Immortality, an like a fire that has
consumed all its fuel.

Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad, Part I, Chapter VI, 19-20

By Time blows the cleansing Wind, through Time the vast Earth has her
being. The great Heaven has his post in Time.

Atharva Veda XIX, 54, 2

Their son Time long ago engendered the things that were and that shall
be. From Time came Scripture into being and formulas for Sacrifice.

Atharva Veda XIX, 54, 3

By Time was Sacrifice inaugurated, inexhaustible oblation to the Gods. In
Time live the spirits ant the nymphs. Upon Time all the worlds repose.

Atharva Veda XIX, 54, 4

In Time are set this Angiras and Atharvan who came from Heaven, both
this world and the world above, all holy worlds and holy interspaces.

Atharva Veda XIX, 54, 5

Having conquered the worlds by Holy Word, Time, the God supreme, goes on.

As long as the sun rises in the north and sets in the south, twice as
long does it rise above and set below and just so long does he, like
the Sadhyas, enjoy rulership and sovereignty.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, X - Meditation on the Sadhyas, 4

Now, after having risen thence upwards, it (i.e. the sun) rises and
sets no more. It remains alone in the centre. And on this there is the
following verse:

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XI - The Result of the Meditation
on the Honey, 1

There (i.e. in Brahmaloka) the sun neither rises nor sets at any time. O
ye gods, if this is true, may I never fall from Brahman!

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XI - The Result of the Meditation
on the Honey, 2

Verily, for him who thus knows this Brahma-Upanishad, the sun does not
rise or set. For him it is day for ever.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XI - The Result of the Meditation
on the Honey, 3

This doctrine Brahma told to Prajapati, Prajapati to Manu, Manu to his
offspring. And to Uddalaka Aruni this doctrine of Brahman was narrated
by his father.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XI - The Result of the Meditation
on the Honey, 4

Attain, O Purifier, the heavenly light! Once born you wax great, O sacred
Drop, surpassing all!

Rig Veda IX, 59, 4

The first rays of Dawn have appeared once again! Her splendors diffuse
their radiance on high. O Dawn, giver of Light, who draw near on your
lofty chariot, convey to us joy!

Rig Veda VII, 78, 1

The well-kindled Fire lifts up its voice loudly; the singers greet her
with hymns of praise. Goddess Dawn approaches with her light, driving
away all darkness and danger.

Rig Veda VII, 78, 2

There in the East the day is appearing; the lights of morning, increasing,
shine brightly, bringing forth the Sun, Sacrifice, and Fire, while evil
darkness withdraws in the West.

Rig Veda VII, 78, 3

Heaven's bounteous Daughter has come once again, and all eyes behold
the Dawn in her shining. She has mounted her chariot, empowered by its
own impulse and drawn by its team of well-yoked horses.

For the great-souled, the surest way to liberation is the conviction
that I am Brahman. The two terms, what leads to bondage and what leads
to liberation, are the sense of mineness and the absence of the sense
of mineness.

Yajur Veda, Paingala Upanishad 4.19. upr, 923

You must not use your God-given body for killing God's creatures,
whether they are human, animal or whatever.

Yajur Veda 12.32. fs, 90

Perishable is matter. Immortal, imperishable the Lord, who, the One,
controls the perishable and also the soul. Meditating on Him, uniting
with Him, becoming more and more like Him, one is freed at the last from
the world's illusion.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 1.10. ve, 762

Him who is without beginning and without end, in the midst of confusion,
the Creator of all, of manifold form, the One embracer of the universe-by
knowing God, one is released from all fetters.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 5.13. uph, 407

When a man knows God, he is free: his sorrows have an end, and birth
and death are no more. When in inner union he is beyond the world of
the body, then the third world, the world of the Spirit, is found,
where the power of the All is, and man has all-for he is one with the One.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 1.11. upm, 86

Love is the firstborn, loftier than the Gods, the Fathers and men. You,
O Love, are the eldest of all, altogether mighty. To you we pay homage!

Atharva Veda IX, 2, 19

Greater than the breadth of Earth and Heaven or of Waters and Fire, you,
O Love, are the eldest of all, altogether mighty. To you we pay homage!

Atharva Veda IX, 2, 20

Greater than the quarters and directions, the expanses and vistas of
the sky, you, O Love, are the eldest of all, altogether mighty. To you
we pay homage!

Atharva Veda IX, 2, 21

Greater than all things moving and inert, than the Ocean, O Passion, you,
O Love, are the eldest of all, altogether mighty. To you we pay homage!

Atharva Veda IX, 2, 23

Beyond the reach of Wind or Fire, the Sun or the Moon, you, O Love,
are the eldest of all, altogether mighty. To you we pay homage!

A father may therefore tell that doctrine of Brahman to his eldest son
to a worthy disciple.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XI - The Result of the Meditation
on the Honey, 5

It must not be told to anyone else, even if he should offer one the whole
sea-girt earth, full of treasure; for this doctrine is worth more an that,
yea, it is worth more.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XI - The Result of the Meditation
on the Honey, 6

The gayatri is everything, whatever here exists. Speech is verily
the Gayatri, for speech sings forth (gaya-ti) and protects (traya-te)
everything, whatever here exists.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 1

That Gayatri is also the earth; for everything that exists here rests
on this earth and does not go beyond.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 2

In man, that Gayatri is also the body; for the pranas exist in this body
and do not go beyond.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 3

Awaking, we greet you with confident minds, we and our nobles who furnish
the oblations. Show yourselves favorable, O Dawns, as you arise and
protect us forever with your blessings!

Rig Veda VII, 78, 5

Here comes the Sun beneficent! His gaze rests upon all Men, on all
Men his blessing. The God, the eye of Mitra and Varuna, has rolled up
darkness like a scroll of parchment.

Rig Veda VII, 63, 1

The Inspirer of all Men advances, the Sun, displaying his mighty
shimmering banner. Now he will turn again the chariot wheel which,
harnessed to the shaft, the sun-horse pulls.

Rig Veda VII, 63, 2

Emerging resplendent from the bosom of the mornings, he ascends, heart's
delight of all the singers. This is the God I hail as Vivifier! He never
infringes the Order's harmony.

Rig Veda VII, 63, 3

This bright jewel of the sky rises--limitless his vision! Far is his goal;
he hastens on resplendent. Now, animated by the Sun, earth's people can
go about their business and perform their tasks.

He is the never-created creator of all: He knows all. He is pure
consciousness, the creator of time, all-powerful, all-knowing. He is the
Lord of the soul and of nature and of the three conditions of nature. From
Him comes the transmigration of life andliberation, bondage in time and
freedom in eternity.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 6.16. upm, 96

All this universe is in the glory of God, of Siva, the God of love. The
heads and faces of men are His own, and He is in the hearts of all.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 3.11. upm, 90

God is, in truth, the whole universe: what was, what is and what beyond
shall ever be. He is the God of life immortal and of all life that lives
by food. His hands and feet are everywhere. He has heads and mouths
everywhere. He sees all, He hears all. He is in all, and He Is.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 3.15-16. upm, 90

He is the God of forms infinite in whose glory all things are-smaller than
the smallest atom, and yet the Creator of all, ever living in the mystery
of His creation. In the vision of this God of love there is everlasting
peace. He is the Lord of all who, hidden in the heart of things, watches
over the world of time. The Gods and seers of Brahman are one with Him,
and when a man knows Him, he cuts the bonds of death.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 4.14-15. upm, 91-92

He who is source and origin of the Gods, the Lord of all, Rudra, the
Mighty Sage who produced in ancient days the Golden Germ-may He endow
us with purity of mind!

In many a form of goodness, O Love, you show your face. Grant that these
forms may penetrate within our hearts. Send elsewhere all malice!

Atharva Veda IX, 2, 25

In the beginning was Desire, the first seed of mind. O desire, twin of
Desire, grant wealth to me!

Atharva Veda XIX, 52, 1

Powerful, unshakable, shining, companionable, formidable victor, grant
power to me!

Atharva Veda XIX, 52, 2

He who longed from afar to furnish a pledge in response to the eternal
was heeded by the regions. By means of Desire they generated light.

Atharva Veda XIX, 52, 3

From Desire springs desire, leaps from Heart to heart. The mind of my
people, let that mind be mine!

That body, in man, is again the heart within a man; for the pranas exist
in it and do not go beyond.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 4

That Gayatri has four feet and is sixfold. The same is also declared by
a Rik-verse:

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 5

Such is its greatness (i.e. of Brahman as known through the symbol of
the Gayatri). Greater than it is the Person (Brahman). One of Its feet
covers all beings; the immortal three feet are in heaven (i.e. in Itself)

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 6

The Brahman which has been thus described is the same as the physical
akasa outside a person. The akasa which is outside a person is the same as
that which is inside a person. The akasa which is inside a person is the
akasa within the heart. The akasa which is within the heart is omnipresent
and unchanging. He who knows this obtains full and unchanging prosperity.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XII - Meditation on the Gayatri, 7-9

Of that heart there are five doors controlled by the devas. That which
is the eastern door is the prana-that is the eye, that is Aditya (the
sun). One should meditate on that as brightness and the source of food. He
who knows this becomes bright and an eater of food.

Sama Veda, Chandogya Upanishad III, XIII - Meditation on the Door-Keepers,

He follows, like an eagle with flight unswerving, the course designed
for him by the Immortals. Directly the sun rises, Mitra and Varuna,
we are eager to serve you with worship and oblations.

Rig Veda VII, 63, 5

May Mitra, Varuna, Aryaman, grant us freedom and space enough for us and
for our children! May we find pleasant pathways, good to travel! Preserve
us evermore, O Gods, with blessings!

Rig Veda VII, 63, 6

Like ornaments vying for the neck of a winner, like the cries of men
contending for light, so our songs strive for Soma who, in accordance
with his choice, is purified by waters as a sage. His wisdom is like an
enclosure for the rearing of cattle.

Rig Veda IX, 94, 1

It is he who has revealed the abode of immortality. All worlds have
expanded for him who found the Light. Our songs, increasing like cows
in the pasture, hail aloud the sacred Drop with deep devotion.

Rig Veda IX, 94, 2

Encompassing wisdom on all sides, the Seer, the Hero, moves through
all worlds like a chariot, preparing for mortals glory among the Gods,
rewards for the skillful, new things among the Gods at their appearing.

Agni, Vayu, Aditya who is the time (Prajapati), prana, food, Brahma,
Rudra, Vishnu. From among these, some, meditating, adore one, others
another. Please tell us: who among them is adored most, who is He? Then
he said to them: These, indeed, are the foremost appeared forms of the
highest, immortal, incorporeal Brahman.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Maitra Upanishad 4.5-6. upb, 343

In Him exists neither action nor organ of action; no one is found His
equal or superior to Him. His supreme power is revealed in manifold forms;
inherent to His nature is the working of His strength and wisdom.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 6.8. ve, 156

Let us know that Supreme Being and meditate upon Him, the Supreme General
of the great deva army. May He enlighten us and lead us to be one with
Him, Lord Skanda.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Taittiraya Aranyaka 10.6.2-3 (Shanmukha Gayatra). lw,
112

The atman pervades all like butter hidden in milk. He is the source of
Self-knowledge and ascetic fervor. This is the Brahman teaching, the
highest goal! This is the Brahman teaching, the highest goal! He who with
the truth of the atman, unified, perceives the truth of Brahman as with a
lamp, who knows God, the unborn, the stable, free from all forms of being,
is released from all fetters. The inspired Self is not born nor does
He die; He springs from nothing and becomes nothing. Unborn, permanent,
unchanging, primordial, He is not destroyed when the body is destroyed.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Svetasvatara Upanishad 1.16; 2.15 & 18. ve, 711,
762, 566

There are five subtle elements, tanmantra, and these are called
elements. There are also five gross elements, mahabhutas, and these
are called elements. The union of these is called the human body. The
human soul rules the body; but the immortal spiritual soul is pure like
a drop of water on a lotus leaf. The human soul is under the power of
the three constituents and conditions of nature, and thus it falls into
confusion. Because of this confusion the soul cannot become conscious
of the God who dwellswithin and whose power gives us power to work.

Krishna Yajur Veda, Maitra Upanishad 3.2. upm, 100

Now prosper, Desire, the desires of our hearts, that we may
succeed. Accept this oblation!

Atharva Veda XIX, 52, 5

Sweet be the glances we exchange, our faces showing true concord. Enshrine
me in your heart and let one spirit dwell within us.

Atharva Veda VII, 36

I wrap around you this my robe which came to me from Manu, so that you
may be wholly mine and never seek another.

Atharva Veda VII, 37

We offer praise to the Friend, the kindly marriage arranger. Like one
who plucks a cucumber I release you from here, not from yonder.

Atharva Veda XIV, 1, 17

Love, children, happiness, and wealth will come to answer your
hopes. Devoted to your husband's needs, be girded for immortality!
