Sarah Hope wrote:Black Cockatoos are some of the most exciting birds to see, they only come rarely. There are two sorts, one have yellow on their heads, and some have red. A flock came by here once, I remember, they landed in the tall trees down at the creek, stayed for a little while, then flew on. They came more often at the last place we lived at, Bilpin in the Blue Mountains. They are very loud, you can certainly hear them approaching, and they come in flocks of 20 or 30. But all cockies are amusing, not scary.
We call the white ones 'clowns of the bush', they do things like hanging upside down in the rain taking a bath, and bob up and down with their yellow feathered hats. They also chomp off the corn stalks ,and eat tomatoes
, but no matter how hard I have tried to dislike them, I just can't, they are so big and beautiful and funny. What I hate though, is seeing them in little cages
, people sometimes have them as pets, they can learn to talk very well, and have a particular nack for swearing

The zoo is still there at Hamilton Island, you can have breakfast there.
Oh goody, we get to listen to a bunch of cussin' birds whilst we eat breakfast Sarah!
....Do send that plane ticket dear.

...If there were only more people in the world like him
